What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Plain-English summary
Robert Bosch Automotive Steering has submitted a Defect Information Report regarding Electric Power Steering (EPS) systems supplied to Ford Motor Company and Tesla, Inc. The defect involves aluminum mounting bolts that can corrode after exposure to certain driving environments, such as road salt.
If the aluminum bolts corrode, they may fracture, allowing the steering gear motor to detach. This failure can cause a reduction or loss of power steering assist, which increases the risk of a crash. The recall affects 557,722 vehicles.
Bosch is working with the affected vehicle manufacturers to correct the issue. Dealers for Ford and Tesla will replace the steering gear mounting bolts and add a corrosion-preventative sealer free of charge. Ford owners may contact customer service at 1-866-436-7332 (Recall No. 15S14), and Tesla owners may contact customer service at 1-877-798-3752 (Recall No. SB-18-32-002).
