These units were sold as replacement service parts for certain 2018-2023 Mustang, 2018-2020 F-150, 2018-2021 Expedition, and 2018-2021 Navigator vehicles. The recall is due to a defect where the secondary steering torque sensor may not be calibrated properly.
This calibration issue can cause the steering wheel to turn side to side against the driver's intentions. A steering wheel that turns unintentionally can cause a loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will update the Power Steering Control Module (PSCM) software or provide a refund, free of charge. Owner notification letters were mailed on May 16, 2025. Owners may contact Ford customer service at 1-866-436-7332 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
