What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a safety-critical component (fire extinguisher) that may fail to function or cause injury during a fire, fitting the rubric criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.
Plain-English summary
KZRV, L.P. is recalling various 2002-2018 recreational trailers equipped with Kidde Plastic-Handle or Push Button 'Pindicator' Fire Extinguishers. The affected trailer models include the Sportster, Sportster S.E., Spree, Stone Ridge, Venom, Ultra Lite, Vision, Inferno, Jag, Montego Bay, MXT Sportster, Sportsmen, Durango, Escalade, Escalade Sportster, Escape, Escape Mini, Frontier, New Vision, New Vision Sportster, Outdoorsmen, Stone Ridge Sportster, Sidewinder, Sonic, Sonic Lite, Sport, Sport Tote, Sport Trek, Sporttrek Touring, Sporttrek, Ascent, Classic, Connect, Connect Lite, Coyote, Sportsmen Sportster, Sportsmen LX, Sportsmen Elite, Venture, New Vision Ultra, and Sport Trek Touring.
The fire extinguishers may become clogged, preventing them from discharging as expected or requiring excessive force to activate. Additionally, in certain models, the nozzle may detach from the valve assembly with enough force to cause injury and render the product inoperable. In the event of a fire, if the fire extinguisher does not function properly, it can increase the risk of injury.
