Plain-English summary

PACCAR Incorporated is recalling certain 2017 Peterbilt 320 vehicles equipped with Meritor disc brakes. The recall addresses a defect where the park brake chamber may be too small, causing the vehicle to move unexpectedly. This condition causes the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 121, "Air Brake Systems."

The defect increases the risk of a crash or injury to anyone in the path of the vehicle if it moves unexpectedly. PACCAR will notify owners, and dealers will replace the rear axle park brake chambers free of charge. The recall began on December 15, 2017.

Owners may contact Peterbilt customer service at 1-940-591-4000. PACCAR's number for this recall is 1117E. Owners may also contact the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY 1-800-424-9153), or go to www.safercar.gov.
