Plain-English summary
Triumph Motorcycles America, LTD is recalling certain S 4 Alarm Kits and Immobilizers made by Datatool. These aftermarket alarms were sold for use on various Triumph motorcycle models, including the Trophy, Tiger, Daytona, Rocket III, and Bonneville series.
The affected alarms contain an internal nickel hydride battery that may leak. If the battery leaks onto the unprotected circuit board below it, it may cause the engine to stall, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
The recall began in February 2017. Triumph will notify owners, and dealers will replace the affected alarms free of charge. Owners may contact Triumph customer service at 1-678-854-2010 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
