The affected trailers may be equipped with an incorrect Federal Placard that does not indicate that the vehicle has a third axle. As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the requirements of 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." If the Federal Placard is missing the correct axle information, the operator may overload the trailer, causing a loss of vehicle control and increasing the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard free of charge. The recall began on December 1, 2016.
