Plain-English summary
Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2014-2016 Charleston vehicles manufactured between September 16, 2013, and December 10, 2015. These vehicles were assembled on a Freightliner chassis built by Daimler Trucks North America (DTNA).
The recall addresses a defect in the throttle pedal position sensor, which may fail to return to zero. This failure can cause the engine brake to suddenly not activate as expected, reducing the vehicle's deceleration ability. A sudden loss of the engine brake without warning may lead to reduced brake capacity, potentially increasing the risk of a crash.
Daimler Trucks North America dealers will replace the pedal free of charge. The recall began on August 4, 2016. Owners may contact Daimler Trucks Customer Service at 1-800-547-0712 or via email at [email protected]. Forest River's recall number is 40-06202016-0214.
