Volkswagen Group of America, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Jetta, Passat, and Golf vehicles due to a defect in the fuel injection system. The affected vehicles were manufactured between October 31, 2015, and January 21, 2016 for the Jetta; November 13, 2015, and December 9, 2015 for the Passat; and November 5, 2015, and November 11, 2015 for the Golf.
In these vehicles, the fuel rail may detach from the cylinder head, resulting in a fuel leak. If a fuel leak occurs in the presence of an ignition source, it can result in a vehicle fire.
Volkswagen will notify owners, and dealers will replace the cylinder heads free of charge. The manufacturer has not yet provided a notification schedule.
