Dejana Recalls Dominator Trucks Due to Potential Crane Cover Detachment

Dejana is recalling 2013-2016 Dominator trucks because a crane valve bank cover may crack and fall off, creating a road hazard.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural component that may detach and create a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash, which fits the criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary

Dejana Truck & Utility Equipment Co, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2013-2016 Dominator-Propane, Dominator I, Dominator II, Dominator III, and Dominator IV vehicles. The recall affects vehicles manufactured between April 23, 2013, and January 22, 2016, that are equipped with IMT cranes, specifically models 6000, 7500, 8600, 9500, 10000, 12000, or 14000.

The affected cranes have a valve bank cover that may crack and fall from the crane while the vehicle is being transported. If the valve bank cover detaches, it could become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash.

Dejana will notify owners, and dealers will replace the valve bank cover with a thicker cover free of charge. The recall began on June 2, 2016. Owners may contact Dejana customer service at 1-888-836-0649 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
