Supreme Classic American Trolley Recall for Seat Belt Anchor Weld Defect

Supreme is recalling 2010-2016 Classic American Trolley vehicles because missing welds on seat brackets may allow seat belt anchors to separate, increasing injury risk in a crash.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where seat belt anchors may separate, posing a risk of injury in a crash, but no injuries or fatalities have been reported.

Plain-English summary

Supreme Corporation is recalling certain model year 2010-2016 Classic American Trolley vehicles manufactured between November 19, 2010, and January 29, 2016. These vehicles are equipped with certain Recaro Ergo-M Commercial Bus Driver Seats. The recall involves 80 affected units.

The affected seats have J-Brackets that may be missing welds. This defect could allow the seat belt anchorage assembly to separate from the J-Bracket. If this separation occurs, the bus driver may not be properly restrained in the event of a crash, increasing their risk of injury.

Supreme will notify owners to have a Recaro dealer inspect the seats for missing welds. If missing welds are found, the seats will be repaired free of charge. The recall began on June 20, 2016. Owners may contact Recaro customer service at 1-248-484-3203 or Supreme customer service at 1-574-642-0800. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit www.safercar.gov.
