Prevost Recalls Coaches Due to Fuel Line Fire Risk
Prevost is recalling specific 2011-2016 coach models because a missing clip allows the coolant line to rub against the fuel hose, potentially causing a fuel leak and engine compartment fire.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (missing clip) that creates a risk of engine compartment fire, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects or significant injury/property-damage risks.
Plain-English summary
Prevost Cars, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2012-2016 H3-41 and H3-45, 2011-2016 H3-VIP, 2011-2016 X3-45 Coach, 2012-2016 X3-VIP, and 2011-2013 XL2 Entertainer vehicles. The recall affects 1,348 vehicles in total.
The defect involves a missing positioning clip on the coolant line, which allows it to rub against the braided fuel hose at one of the injectors. This contact may cause a fuel leak, resulting in fuel spraying onto hot exhaust components and increasing the risk of an engine compartment fire.
Prevost will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the fuel line for abrasion, replacing it as necessary. The fuel and coolant lines will also be properly secured. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on April 20, 2016. Owners may contact Prevost customer service at 1-418-883-3391 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
