Continental Air Bag Control Units Recalled for Corrosion Risk
Continental is recalling Air Bag Control Units manufactured between 2006 and 2010 because a power supply component may corrode, potentially preventing air bags from deploying in a crash.

Plain-English summary
Continental Automotive Systems, Inc. is recalling certain Air Bag Control Units (ABCU) manufactured between January 1, 2006, and December 31, 2010. The affected units contain a power supply component that may corrode, which can result in the failure of the ABCU.
If the air bag control unit fails, safety systems such as seat belt pretensioners and air bags may not deploy in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of occupant injury. Additionally, in some vehicles, the air bags may inadvertently deploy, increasing the risk of a crash.
Continental will notify the vehicle manufacturers that installed these units. The affected vehicle manufacturers will file recalls for these vehicles, notify their customers, and replace the air bag control units. The recall began on January 26, 2016.
