Meritor, Inc. is recalling certain Trailer Axle Assemblies, part number HTQ4671LH8846. These affected axle assemblies are equipped with certain Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 Long Stroke Air Brake Actuators.
The defect involves an improperly seated diaphragm in the brake chamber, which may cause the brakes to drag. This brake drag can result in a wheel end fire.
Meritor will notify affected vehicle manufacturing customers. Dealers will remove and replace the Haldex Life Seal Type 30/30 long stroke actuators with Haldex Gold Seal Type 30/30 long stroke actuators free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in February 2016. Owners may contact Meritor customer service at 1-248-435-1725 or Haldex customer service at 1-800-752-2501.
