Ford Recalls 2015 F-150 Trucks Due to Seat Belt Anchor Defect
Ford is recalling 2015 F-150 SuperCrew trucks because improperly crimped seat belt pretensioner cables may prevent proper occupant restraint in a crash.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect where seat belts may fail to restrain occupants, leading to increased injury risk in a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects and significant injury reports.
Plain-English summary
Ford Motor Company is recalling certain model year 2015 Ford F-150 SuperCrew trucks manufactured between January 22, 2015, and March 17, 2015. The affected vehicles may be equipped with driver or front passenger seat belt anchorage assemblies where the pretensioner cable was not properly crimped. As a result, the seat belts may not properly restrain the seat occupant in the event of a crash, causing the vehicles to fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards 209 and 210.
An occupant who is not properly restrained is at an increased risk of injury in the event of a crash. Ford will notify owners, and dealers will replace the driver and/or front passenger side seat belt retractor(s) and pretensioner(s) free of charge. The recall began on February 12, 2016.
