EverGreen Recreational Vehicles Recalled for Water Heater Overheating Risk

EverGreen is recalling 2013-2015 recreational vehicles equipped with Atwood water heaters that may overheat, posing a scalding risk.

What this means for you

Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a risk of scalding injury from steam release, which fits the criterion for risk-of-harm products where injury has not yet been reported.

Plain-English summary

EverGreen Recreational Vehicles, LLC is recalling certain model year 2013-2015 Bayhill, Lifestyle, Amped, I-Go, Sun Valley, Element, Reactor, and Ever-Lite recreational vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured between June 1, 2013, and August 31, 2015, and are equipped with Atwood on-demand water heaters.

The affected water heaters have a water and gas valve that may cause the water heater to overheat the water in the hot water supply tap. This overheating may result in the release of steam, which could cause the operator to scald themselves and increase the risk of injury.

EverGreen will notify owners, and dealers will install a hot water heater rework kit to remedy the safety risk free of charge. The recall began on January 14, 2016. Owners may contact EverGreen customer service at 1-574-825-4298 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
