What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (parking brake failure) that poses a significant risk of personal injury, crash, or fire, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Coachmen Mirada motorhomes, model MDA31FWF, manufactured between August 21, 2015, and October 2, 2015. The recall addresses a defect in the parking brake actuator, which may be out of calibration. This issue can cause the parking brake system to fail to properly hold the vehicle even when the parking brake pedal is fully depressed. Additionally, the parking brake may not disengage completely when the pedal is released.

If the parking brake does not fully engage, the vehicle may unexpectedly roll, increasing the risk of personal injury or a crash. A parking brake that drags may also result in a wheel end fire.

Forest River will notify owners, and Ford dealers will replace the parking brake foot pedal assembly free of charge. The recall began on December 9, 2015. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-293-1581 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
