Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2016 Coachmen Galleria motorhomes manufactured between October 30, 2015, and February 15, 2016. The recall addresses defects in the Federal Placards located on the vehicles.
The affected placards incorrectly list the number of seatbelts as zero. Additionally, the placards failed to factor in the fresh water capacity in the vehicle weight calculation and are missing the Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR). As a result, these vehicles fail to comply with the certification requirements of 49 CFR Part 567. Without the correct GVWR listed, operators may overload the vehicle, which increases the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners, and dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard free of charge. The recall began on March 3, 2016. Owners may contact Forest River customer service at 1-574-825-8628 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
