Forest River, Inc. is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Coachmen Freelander vehicles manufactured between February 14, 2014, and April 1, 2015, as well as 2015 Coachmen Leprechaun vehicles manufactured on June 10, 2014. These vehicles were built on a Ford 158-inch wheelbase chassis with a 5.4L V-8 engine.
The affected vehicles may have a Federal Certification label that lists an incorrect gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR), gross axle weight rating (GAWR), and wrong cargo carrying capacity information. This labeling error means the vehicles fail to comply with 49 CFR Part 567, "Certification." With incorrect weight information, operators may overload the trailer, which increases the risk of a crash.
Forest River will notify owners and provide replacement labels with the corrected information free of charge. The recall began on April 17, 2015. Owners can contact Coachmen customer service at 1-800-453-6064 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
