What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.

Plain-English summary
Hyundai Motor America is recalling certain model year 2015-2016 Sonata vehicles manufactured between May 28, 2014, and August 21, 2015. The recall affects approximately 64,744 vehicles equipped with an Antilock Braking System (ABS) warning light.
The defect involves the ABS warning light failing to illuminate in the event of an ABS malfunction. While the Brake System warning light will still illuminate, the specific ABS indicator will not. This failure means the vehicle does not comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) number 135, "Light Vehicle Brake Systems."
If a driver is alerted to a brake system malfunction but not specifically to an ABS issue, they may operate the vehicle unaware that the brakes could lock up during hard braking, which increases the risk of a crash. Hyundai will notify owners, and dealers will update the ABS control unit software free of charge. The recall was expected to begin on November 30, 2015. Owners may contact Hyundai customer service at 1-855-671-3059 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
