The vehicles are equipped with a manual master body power disconnect switch that activates side and rear lights and sirens. However, this switch was not linked to the vehicle start circuit. This defect allows an operator to drive the vehicle without the requisite lighting or sirens active. Operating an emergency vehicle without these warning devices increases the risk of a crash and injury to occupants of the emergency vehicle and other vehicles.

E-One will notify owners, and dealers will install a relay that interlocks with the engine start circuit. This ensures the vehicle cannot be operated until the switch is engaged.
