Gillig LLC is recalling certain model year 2010-2015 Low Floor vehicles manufactured between August 26, 2010, and April 30, 2015. The recall involves 1,101 vehicles.
The defect involves excessive engine crankcase pressures that may cause the 90-degree elbow of the vent tube assembly to detach from the crankcase ventilation breather. If this occurs, engine oil may come into contact with hot surfaces, increasing the risk of a fire.
Gillig will notify owners, and dealers will secure the ends of the 90-degree elbow and reprogram the electronic control module (ECM) to limit crankcase pressures under misfire conditions. These repairs will be performed free of charge. The recall began on June 2, 2015. Owners may contact Gillig customer service at 1-800-735-1500 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
