What this means for you
Real risk of harm even if no illness or injury has been reported yet. Stop using the product and follow the agency's guidance.
Our severity reasoning: The helmets fail to meet federal safety standards for penetration and retention, creating a risk of harm in a crash, but no injuries or fatalities are reported in the source text.
Plain-English summary
Buy4easy Inc is recalling certain TMS JX-A111 full-face motorcycle helmets with visors in sizes S, M, L, and XL. These helmets were manufactured between June 1, 2013, and September 30, 2013. The recall affects 8,988 units.
During testing, the shell of the affected helmets fractured and the liner split, causing them to fail penetration and retention requirements. Additionally, the helmet labels do not meet the Department of Transportation (DOT) standard. Consequently, these helmets fail to meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) No. 218, "Motorcycle Helmets."
The defect means the wearer may not be properly protected in the event of a crash, increasing the risk of injury. Buy4easy will notify owners and offer a full refund. The recall began on April 29, 2015. Owners may contact Buy4easy customer service at 1-626-388-9898 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
