Glaval Transit Bus Recall for Wheelchair Lift Cable Fire Risk
Glaval is recalling 2007-2012 transit buses equipped with certain Ricon wheelchair lifts. An armored cable may not clear the lift, potentially causing a short circuit and fire.

Glaval Bus is recalling certain model year 2007-2012 Universal, Primetime, Sport, Concorde, Titan, Titan II, Entourage, and Apollo transit buses. These vehicles were manufactured between January 1, 2007, and December 3, 2012, and are equipped with certain Ricon S-series and K-series wheelchair lifts featuring an optional armored pendant cable.
The recall addresses a defect where the armored cable may be positioned such that it does not clear the wheelchair lift. If the cable contacts the power lug and lacks a nonconductive cover, or if the cover is improperly installed, a short circuit may occur that could result in a fire.
Glaval will notify owners, and Ricon will send a supplemental cover kit and instructions free of charge. The recall is expected to begin in June 2014. Owners may contact Glaval customer service at 1-800-445-2824 or Ricon Customer Service at 1-800-322-2884.
