Oshkosh Recalls 2011-2012 TPV Vehicles Due to Fuel Tank Over-Pressurization
Oshkosh is recalling 2011-2012 TPV gasoline vehicles because the fuel transfer pump may over-pressurize the tank, causing fuel discharge and fire risk.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (fuel system over-pressurization) that creates a significant fire hazard, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.
Plain-English summary
Oshkosh Corporation is recalling certain model year 2011-2012 TPV Homeland Security gasoline vehicles manufactured between November 2011 and July 2013. The recall involves 12 vehicles.
The fuel transfer pump system in these vehicles may over-pressurize the primary fuel tank. This can cause the fuel tank cap to pop off and discharge gasoline. If the discharged gasoline comes into contact with an ignition source, there is an increased risk of a fire.
Oshkosh will notify owners, and dealers will replace the fuel transfer wire harness and correct the installation of the fuel vent lines and electrical connections to prevent over-pressurization. The repair is free of charge. The recall began on May 29, 2014. Owners may contact Oshkosh customer service at 1-800-392-9921 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
