Daimler Trucks North America is recalling certain model year 2013-2014 Thomas Built Buses Saf-T-Liner (EF, EFX, and HDX) buses. These vehicles were manufactured between January 1, 2012, and October 4, 2012, and are equipped with an auxiliary fuel pickup tube for use with an optional chassis coolant heater.
The recall addresses a defect where an information label affixed to the auxiliary heater fuel pickup tube may detach and fall into the fuel tank. If this occurs, the label can inhibit fuel delivery to the engine. Insufficient fuel delivery may cause the engine to stumble, run erratically, or stall while driving, which increases the risk of a crash.
Daimler will notify owners, and dealers will inspect the tanks and auxiliary heater fuel pickup tubes for labels. Any labels found will be removed free of charge.
