Plain-English summary

Compass Conversions, LLC is recalling one model year 2007 Bloomer Horse Trailer and one model year 2003 Elite Horse Trailer. The recall addresses a design change in the power awning motor assembly that may cause the motor assembly screws to shear unknowingly.

If the motor assembly screws shear, the awning can unfurl unexpectedly while the vehicle is at rest or in transit. This condition increases the risk of personal injury or a vehicle crash.

The recall began in April 2013. Compass Conversions will notify owners, and Dometic staff will replace the affected motors with a different design. Owners are instructed not to drive their vehicle until repairs can be performed. For more information, owners may contact Dometic at 1-888-447-0003 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
