Elite Trailer Manufacturing, LLC is recalling certain model year 2012 Livestock Gooseneck trailers manufactured between November 17, 2011, and January 17, 2012. These vehicles are equipped with Carlisle hydraulic brake actuators.
The recall is due to a manufacturing defect where one of the rotating components in the hydraulic brake pump missed a heat treating operation. This causes the actuator to wear at a higher than normal rate, which could result in the hydraulic pump failing and a loss of braking ability in the trailer. Loss of braking ability can lead to a loss of control of the trailer, increasing the risk of a crash, serious injuries, or property damage.
