Morgan Olson is recalling 2009-2011 walk-in vans with sliding front doors that lack required primary door latch or warning systems, increasing crash injury risk.

What this means for you

Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.

Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (missing door latch systems) that increases the risk of injury in a crash, meeting the criteria for a Severe rating.

Plain-English summary

Morgan Olson Corporation is recalling certain model year 2009-2011 walk-in van type vehicles with a gross vehicle weight rating in excess of 4,536kg (10,000lbs). These vehicles were manufactured from September 1, 2009, through January 19, 2012, and are equipped with sliding front doors.

The recall addresses a defect where the vehicles do not have either a primary door latch system or a door closure warning system. Consequently, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 206, "Door Locks and Door Retention Components." Without these required systems, the door could partially open without warning, and the driver may not be aware that the door is not fully latched, putting the driver at an increased risk of injuries in the event of a crash.

Morgan Olson will notify owners, and dealers will repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on April 25, 2012. Owners may contact Morgan Olson at 1-269-659-0200 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
