Plain-English summary
Superior Coach Interiors, Inc. is recalling certain MCI and Prevost motorhomes equipped with 1200 Series Norcold refrigerators. The affected vehicles include 2006 MCI Motorhomes, 2005-2007 Prevost XLII models, and 2004 Prevost H3-45 models. The recall addresses a defect in the refrigerators' safety systems, which are designed to shut off power when high temperatures are detected to prevent potential fires.
The defect involves the sensing algorithm or thermal switch used to stop power to the refrigerator. These devices may not respond quickly enough to shut off power when high temperatures are detected due to a possible hydrogen gas leak. This delay in response time may be insufficient to prevent a fire.
Owners of affected vehicles will be instructed to contact Norcold dealers to receive the remedy free of charge. Superior Coach is working with Norcold to identify and notify affected owners. The safety recall began on September 19, 2011. Owners may contact Norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or Superior Coach Interiors at 1-615-466-2000 for additional information.
