Thor Industries is recalling certain model year 2010 and 2011 Damon Tuscany, Astoria, and Essence recreational vehicles, as well as model year 2011 and 2012 TMC Tuscany and Astoria recreational vehicles. These vehicles were manufactured between May 7, 2009, and August 12, 2011.
The recall addresses a defect where the circuit breaker for the windshield wiper motor is insufficient for the electrical load. The vehicles were built with a 10-amp breaker, but the system requires a 15-amp rating. If the breaker trips due to a circuit overload, the windshield wipers will stop operating. This failure may reduce the driver's field of vision, thereby increasing the risk of a crash.
Thor Motor Coach will notify owners, and dealers will exchange the defective breaker with a 15-amp unit free of charge. The safety recall began on September 6, 2011. Owners may contact the TMC Warranty/Service Department at 1-877-855-2867 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
