Plain-English summary
Fleetwood RV, Inc. is recalling certain recreational vehicles equipped with 1200-series Norcold refrigerators. The affected models include the 2010 Bounder, 2010-2011 Southwind, 2009 American Allegiance, 2009 Revolution LE, and 2009 Discovery.
The recall addresses a defect in the refrigerators' safety systems. These units are equipped with either a sensing algorithm or a thermal switch designed to shut off power when high temperatures are detected to prevent a fire. However, the response times of these devices are not sufficient to stop power in time, which may allow a fire to occur.
Fleetwood RV is working with Norcold to identify and notify affected owners. Owners will be instructed to contact Norcold dealers to receive the remedy free of charge. The safety recall began on June 6, 2011. Owners may also contact Norcold at 1-800-767-9101 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
