Skyline is recalling 2011 recreational vehicles and travel trailers because mis-aligned welds on certain wheels could cause them to break while in use, increasing the risk of a crash.
What this means for you
Illness, injury, or structural failure has been reported. Stop using the product immediately and contact the manufacturer for a refund or repair.
Our severity reasoning: The recall involves a structural vehicle defect (wheel welds) that could cause the wheels to break while in use, increasing the risk of a crash, which aligns with the 'Severe' criteria for structural defects.
Plain-English summary
Skyline Corporation is recalling certain model year 2011 Layton, Aljo, Nomad, Weekender, and Mountain View recreational vehicles and fifth wheel travel trailers. These vehicles were manufactured between August 23, 2010, and September 28, 2010, and are equipped with Tredit Tire 15-inch painted wheels, models Spoke or Mod.
The recall is being issued because some of the wheels, which fasten to the axle and serve as a mounting point for tires, could contain mis-aligned welds. This defect could cause the wheels to break while in use, increasing the risk of a crash.
Skyline will notify owners and repair the vehicles free of charge. The safety recall began on December 2, 2010. Owners may contact Skyline Consumer Relations at 1-800-733-4250 or the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236.
