Plain-English summary
Access Options, Inc. is recalling certain trucks and vans built on Ford E-150, E-350, Toyota Sienna, and Dodge Grand Caravan chassis. These vehicles were altered by Access Options and equipped with VMI/Ricon 6-way power seat bases. This recall pertains only to vehicles modified by Access Options and has no relation to vehicles manufactured by Ford, Toyota, or Dodge.
The defect involves a potentially defective (cold) weld on the pivot pin welded to the swivel plate of the 6-way power seat base. If this weld fails, the seat base pin could break, potentially injuring the seat occupant.
Owners should contact Access Options at 831-722-6804 to have the swivel plate replaced free of charge if necessary. The recall began on June 8, 2010. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov for more information.
