What this means for you
Minor labeling or packaging issue, or a voluntary precautionary recall. Risk of harm is low but real — follow the manufacturer's instructions.
Our severity reasoning: The recall addresses a component defect that may lead to fluid leakage without reported injuries, fatalities, or structural failures, fitting the criteria for a moderate severity voluntary precautionary recall.
Plain-English summary
Nova Bus Incorporated has notified the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of a defect in certain model year 2007-2010 Nova LFS buses. The recall affects vehicles equipped with Modine roof-mounted radiators where the manufacturer installed the wrong type of O-ring. The O-rings required for these locations are Viton type, but incorrect ones were used.
The defect may cause the O-rings to deteriorate, leading to leaking or seepage of hydraulic oil. This issue is classified under the engine and engine cooling system, specifically the radiator assembly.
Owners of affected vehicles should contact Nova Bus at 450-472-6410 or their local dealer to have the Viton O-rings installed free of charge. The safety recall began on May 11, 2010. Owners may also contact the NHTSA Vehicle Safety Hotline at 1-888-327-4236 or visit safercar.gov for more information.
