The recalled seats fail to conform to the structural integrity requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard No. 213, "Child Restraint Systems." In the event of a crash, a crack may form at the front of the seat adjacent to the harness adjuster. This defect could cause the child to not be adequately restrained, increasing the risk of injury.

Evenflo will provide owners and caregivers a reinforcement plate along with repair instructions free of charge. The safety recall began on October 15, 2010.
