Plain-English summary
Pyramid Accessories Inc. is recalling approximately 3,700 Disney Mulan backpacks and 1,800 units of Disney Mulan rolling luggage in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall involves two styles of backpacks, available in pink and purple, and pink rolling luggage measuring about 18 inches long. All affected items feature artwork depicting the Disney character Mulan.
The recall is being conducted because the paint used in the artwork on these products contains high levels of lead. Lead is toxic if ingested by children. CPSC and Pyramid Accessories are not aware of any illnesses or injuries involving these products, and the recall is intended to prevent the possibility of illness or injury.
These items were sold at retail stores nationwide from June 1998 through July 1998. The backpacks sold for approximately $12 and $14, while the rolling luggage sold for approximately $25 to $30. Consumers should immediately take these items away from children and return them to the place of purchase for a refund. For more information, consumers can call Pyramid Accessories Inc. toll-free at (800) 543-4327 between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. EDT, Monday through Friday.
