Anam Industrial Company, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC), is recalling approximately 12,000 TWI LITE Illuminated Wall Mount Flush Switches. The recall is necessary because the wiring diagram printed on the product packaging is incorrect. If a consumer wires the switch according to the diagram on the package, it creates a direct short in the circuit when the switch is turned on, which could result in a fire hazard. The switch unit itself is not defective; only the instructions on the packaging are wrong.

The affected switches are white or ivory, measuring 2.75 inches wide by 4.5 inches long, with gold trim and one, two, or three light switches featuring green or red pilot LED lamps. Item numbers on the packaging start with ALW. The switches were sold for approximately $6.00 to $20.00 each between March 1995 and March 1996 at Orchard Supply Hardware stores in California, Price/Costco stores in California, Oregon, Washington, Alaska, and Hawaii, and Builders Square stores in Colorado, Ohio, Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico.

Anam Industrial has not received any reports of short circuits, personal injury, or property damage.
