If this defect is present and the consumer covers or insulates the charger during use, preventing normal air circulation, the charger could overheat and create a potential fire hazard. These chargers were sold nationwide as an optional accessory by various computer dealers from November 1994 through January 1996 for approximately $139.

Owners of the affected chargers should stop using them immediately and contact Texas Instruments at (800) 730-4235 or via email at [email protected] to provide their name, address, and telephone number. Texas Instruments will either refund the customer's money or replace the external charger, based on the availability of replacement units. The company has not received any reports of injuries involving this product.
