The recall is issued because if the basketball set's adjustable post is placed upside down, contrary to the instructions, a child under three years old can become entangled in the net and strangle. The Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) is aware of one incident in which a child under three became entangled in the net and nearly strangled.
