The recall involves white plastic grills measuring 11 inches long, 7.75 inches high, and 11.25 inches deep, with the words "GRILL EXPRESS BY CTC" printed on the front right corner of the lid. The affected units have date codes between 9437 and 9448 located just above a silver foil label on the underside of the grill.

The recall is due to a defect where the heating element in the grill's base can become dislodged, causing the plastic base to melt. CPSC is aware of two incidents where the grill melted, but neither incident involved injury. The grills were sold nationwide from October 1994 to January 1995 for approximately $99 to $140 through retail stores, mail order catalogs, and television infomercials.

Consumers who own the recalled grills should stop using them immediately and discard or destroy the product. The manufacturer, Creative Technologies, is out of business, and a remedy is no longer available.
