Specialized Bicycle Components of Morgan Hill, California, is recalling 52,868 handlebars on all models of 1994 Rockhopper mountain bikes and 3,585 steel rigid forks on 1995 Stumpjumper mountain bikes. The recall was initiated after the company received reports of handlebar and front brake failures, which could result in serious injury to bicycle riders.
The recalled handlebars are model YC-A125PB and were originally equipped on 1994 Rockhopper, Rockhopper Sport, Rockhopper GX, Rockhopper FS, Rockhopper Comp, and Rockhopper Comp FS models. Specialized has received over 10 reports of injuries associated with broken handlebars. These mountain bikes were sold nationwide by authorized retailers.
Consumers with affected 1995 Stumpjumper or 1994 Rockhopper mountain bikes should stop using their bikes immediately. They should bring the bikes to an authorized dealer for a free inspection and replacement of the rigid forks or handlebars.
