The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) and Amscan Inc. are voluntarily recalling approximately 6,000 party favor bracelets (model 39231) and 24,000 party favor necklaces (model 39116). CPSC testing determined that the beads on these items can come off, creating a risk that young children could inhale them into their lungs.

The recalled bracelets, sold in packs of six, feature colored hearts and white beads on elastic cords. The necklaces, sold in packs of five, feature alternating colored beads on white thread. Both items are designed to be easily slipped on and off, making them accessible to young children. Amscan distributed the bracelets from January 1993 through August 1994 and the necklaces from January 1990 through November 1994. The products were sold nationwide at Party City, Party Fair, and Zam's stores.

To date, neither Amscan nor CPSC has received reports of accidents or injuries associated with these products. Consumers should immediately remove the bracelets and necklaces from the reach of young children and return them to the store of purchase for a refund.
