Approximately 7,500 units were distributed during this period.
The recall is due to a design defect where pressure applied to the handrails can cause them to bend outward. This creates a gap between the handrail and the side plate, allowing room for fingers or hands to become caught and injured. CPSC was informed of the issue after receiving six consumer reports of children's fingers or hands being caught in the ladders, resulting in injuries ranging from minor scrapes to severe lacerations and a severed tendon.

Those who purchased these ladders should call 1-800-235-0185 to receive replacement parts, including two new ladder sideplates and two new handrails, which will prevent the gap from forming. Consumers who have not received parts can also write to Patriot Manufacturing Co. in Delair, NJ, providing their contact information, purchase date, and proof of purchase.
