Plain-English summary
Pentapco, Inc. recalled the Simplicity Deluxe Garment Steamer, model numbers Y1211 and Y1237, in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The recall was initiated after consumer reports indicated that the fill plug on the back of the steamer could pop out, causing steam and/or hot water to spray out.
The company reported eight burn injuries to the hands, arms, face, and/or other parts of the body resulting from these leaks. Approximately 5,600 units were sold in fabric stores nationwide starting in August 1989.
Because Pentapco, Inc. is out of business, a remedy such as a repair or refund is no longer available. Consumers are advised to discard or destroy the product.
