Plain-English summary
Kolcraft Enterprises Inc. is voluntarily undertaking a repair program in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) to correct a safety defect in specific children's and infant car seats. The issue involves plastic clips used to attach padding on the seats, which may break or be pulled off. If these clips detach, they present a small parts choking hazard to young children.
The recall affects approximately 1.5 million car seats sold nationwide for $45.00 to $75.00 each. The affected models are the Dial-A-Fit, Perfect Fit, and Rock 'n' Ride. CPSC learned of the problem from a consumer complaint regarding broken clips on a Rock 'n' Ride seat. Neither CPSC nor Kolcraft is aware of any injuries associated with these car seats.
Consumers with Dial-A-Fit or Perfect Fit seats should call Kolcraft at 1-800-453-7673 to obtain new clips and instructions for proper replacement of the side upholstery assembly. Owners of Rock 'n' Ride seats should immediately inspect their seats to see if the clips are loose, brittle, broken, or missing, and then call Kolcraft at the same number to receive a set of new clips and replacement instructions. Consumers can also write to Kolcraft Enterprises, Inc. at 3455 West 31st Place, Chicago, Illinois 60623.
