Princeton Hosiery Mills, through its Le-Roi division, has issued a warning regarding two styles of infant socks that may present a choking or aspiration hazard. The hazard exists if the small plastic ornaments attached to the socks detach. The affected items include a white sock with a colored stripe and three pastel plastic teddy bears attached to the ankle, and a white anklet with a "pearl" bead affixed to a satin bow on the cuff.
These hosiery items were marketed under the "LE-ROI" label and the "MOTHER CARE" label. The socks are identified by style numbers 1928 and 2213 for the teddy bear style, and 2188 and 2120 for the pearl bead style. Neither the CPSC nor Le-Roi knows of any injuries involving these socks. The teddy bear ornaments were not shipped after October 1986, and the pearl bead ornaments were not shipped after April 1987.
Consumers who purchased these items for children under three should immediately remove the teddy bears and/or pearl bead from the socks and discard the ornaments to eliminate the potential choking hazard.
