Danara International, Ltd. is voluntarily recalling two styles of baby crib exercisers in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The products are the Winnie the Pooh baby crib exerciser (Model 15011) and the Smurf baby crib exerciser (Model 30940). These items are intended to be fastened to crib side rails and suspended over the mattress for infants to look at and play with.

The recall is due to excess levels of lead in the paint on the products. CPSC requirements limit the level of lead in paint to 0.06%, but the paint on both recalled crib exercisers contained 2% lead. This presents a hazard of lead poisoning. Neither the CPSC nor Danara know of any injuries associated with these products.

Approximately 100,000 of these crib exercisers were sold for approximately $8.00 each through stores nationwide since April 1981. Consumers should remove these products from use immediately and discard them or return them to the retailer where purchased for a full refund. Retailers should remove the products from sale and return them to Danara International, Ltd.
