These portable high chairs were manufactured between July 1984 and December 1984. The recall addresses reports that the plastic material developed cracks around the restraint horn and locking pin tabs.

The company received approximately 100 consumer reports regarding these cracks before the product was removed from retail shelves in December 1984. If the cracks are present and the seat continues to be used, there is a risk of laceration, falling, or pinching conditions for the user. No injuries have been reported. The affected chairs feature round aluminum tubing rails and bright yellow plastic seats; other models, such as the Deluxe and Original Sassy Seats, are not affected.

Consumers can identify affected chairs by the round aluminum tubing (earlier Model 020 used square tubing and is not affected). Owners of Model 021 or 023 should send their name, address, telephone number, and purchase location to Sassy, Inc. in Northfield, Illinois, to obtain a free repair kit. Proof of purchase is not required. Until the kit is received, consumers should inspect the seat for cracks before each use and discontinue use if cracks are found.
