Hysan Corporation of Chicago, Illinois, is voluntarily recalling 47,000 cans of Revco brand spray windshield de-icer in cooperation with the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC). The affected products were produced by Hysan from October through December 1984. The recall is necessary because some of the aerosol cans contain holes that allow the flammable liquid contents to leak or spray out unexpectedly.

The recalled cans are identified by a blue and white label painted directly on the metal can. Revco de-icer cans with paper labels are not affected. Consumers can identify affected units by checking for specific batch codes stamped in blue on the bottom of the can, including 2084, 2094, 2104, 2114, 2194, 2484, and 1GED.

Hysan has received four reports of consumers being sprayed in the face by the escaping contents. Because the de-icer contains a flammable liquid, the leaking poses a fire and burn hazard.
