These pistols were distributed nationally and retailed for approximately $60.00. The companies have not received any reports of injuries from accidental firings caused by dropping these pistols.
Owners of affected pistols should return them to the Service Department at Daisy Manufacturing Company in Rogers, Arkansas, via United Parcel Service or Parcel Post. Daisy will perform the retrofit free of charge and return the pistol, a process that may take eight weeks. Smith & Wesson models 78G and 79G all require the retrofit, while Daisy models 780 and 790 require it only if the lot number begins with C, F, G, L, LG, M, or Q. Pistols with the letter D on the butt of the grip frame do not require the retrofit and should not be returned.
